Adolescent Psychiatrist (Part-Time)
 

Consultant Psychiatrist to provide services for GUIDE’s Therapeutic Group Home for six Seriously Emotionally Disturbed (SED) adolescent males located in Fort Washington. This position requires 4-6 hours per month, including participation in monthly clinical team meetings at the group home site. Other services may be performed at the psychiatrist’s private office or group practice in a setting geographically convenient to the group home.

 

Duties Include:

 

  • Medication management

  • Psychiatric evaluations of all new residents

  • Participation in monthly clinical team meetings to include treatment planning and clinical consultation

  • Respond to  psychiatric emergencies 24/7

  • Participation is screening, assessment, admission and discharge processes

  • Formulating and documenting a diagnosis

Case Management Supervisor (PT 16-20 HRS)
 

Summary Description: GUIDE Youth Services is seeking a Case Management Supervisor for its growing team of school-based case managers. The successful candidate will report to the Director of School-Based Social Services, and will be responsible for management of case management services delivery, which includes support, supervision, and evaluation of case managers’ activities. 

 

Principal Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of services delivery for school-based case management services.

  • Supports case managers to identify resources to respond to clients’ social and economic needs (such as housing, legal assistance, employment, health care, mental health care, food, education, and others).

  • Provides case and administrative supervision to 6 case managers on a weekly basis in a combination of individual and group formats. Instills and maintains a high level of professionalism throughout program.

  • Supports case managers during crisis interventions.

  • Responsible for management of cases, including keeping confidentiality of services delivered and case files.

  • Responsible for monitoring the accuracy and timely records of all case management services provided in electronic database and paper charts.

  • Responsible for maintaining case managers’ minimum caseloads of 35 families at all times (or equivalent pro-rated number for part-time employees).

  • Responsible for monitoring the accuracy and timely submission of case management monthly reports.

  • Responsible for all aspects of personnel management including recruitment, selection, hiring, training, evaluation, and retention of school-based case managers.  This includes supporting internal and external professional development opportunities for case managers.

  • Responsible for administrative duties such us approval of leave requests and timesheets.

  • Responsible for monitoring case management service evaluations done annually by the contract monitor.

  • Attends initiative-wide meetings as indicated

  • Collaborates with agency staff, school system employees/administrators and community partners in providing comprehensive care to all clients and their families.

  • Keeps the Director of School-Based Social Services informed of all activities, progress and challenges within the program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (B.S.W.) or related field and, if applicable, minimum level licensure in field of study for degree held

  • Excellent management and collaboration skills

PROFESSIONALS
(FULL & PART-TIME)

Provide counseling, psychotherapy, and/or case management in a variety of settings (residential, nonresidential, clinic) and to a variety of client populations including (at risk youth and families, juvenile delinquents, mentally ill adults and youth, substance abusers). Most clinical services are provided from a cognitive and behavioral perspective and often require the use of non-traditional, assertive, and systems oriented work. Some positions require specialized training, licensure, and/or experience, e.g., in drug and alcohol treatment settings. The work typically requires some availability for evenings and/or weekend times as well as daytime availability. Clinicians are utilized in GUIDE projects located throughout the Washington/Baltimore metropolitan region. DJS Intensive Intervention Program: Counselor

  • Provide individual, family and group counseling as well as, case management and outreach services to juvenile offenders and their families in Montgomery County.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Include but not limited to the following):

  • Provide individual, family and group counseling.

  • Perform clinical activities through an advocacy approach with a strong emphasis on outreach to clients homes and other community sites.

    GROUP HOME THERAPIST

    GUIDE, a non profit, historical provider of residential youth care and treatment programs in the Washington, D.C. / Baltimore, MD region operates, among other services, various residential programs including community-based group homes.  Youth are typically referred to these programs by state child welfare and juvenile justice authorities as well as local management boards and service coordination organizations. Youth who are referred to these programs often present an array of behavioral and adjustment problems that may include substance abuse, delinquency, emotional and psychiatric disorders, educational deficits, social, and family problems.  Expansion of programs is being considered in the Baltimore area which may require qualified program clinicians and therapists.

    This is a full-time position for a licensed mental health professional.  While license-eligible individuals may be interviewed, candidates must possess at least a LGSW or LGPC in Maryland before starting. Successful candidates will provide clinical services to adolescents aged 13-18 who are emotionally and behaviorally challenged, and work as part of a dedicated and caring interdisciplinary team in a supportive work environment.  This is a great opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of troubled and at-risk youth.  Duties will include providing individual, group and family therapy, participating in admission screening, discharge planning, and individual treatment plan (ITP) development in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, and overseeing the implementation of the ITP by residential staff.  The Therapist offers clinical consultation to the program, as well as training in clinical issues to group home staff. He/she will provide linkages to community resources, advocate for youths’ educational needs, and participate in creative program development and revision.     Qualifications:  The Group Home Manager must have a Bachelor=s degree from a recognized and accredited college or university and at least two years of experience working with the severely and persistently mentally ill in a residential setting.  In addition, he/she must possess at least one year of supervisory experience and a valid driver=s license with no more that two points.

     

    The Group Home Manager reports directly to the Group Homes Coordinator.

     

    Duties:  The Group Home Manager will be responsible for supervising the residential staff and ensuring that direct care services be performed with residents.  The Group Home Manager will be responsible for conducting his/her job in conformity with the Policies and Procedures of the GUIDE Independence Program, as well as all relevant state and county regulations, and all recognized professional ethical standards.

     

    Specific duties shall include, but are not limited to:

     

    1.         Interviewing, hiring, and firing (with approval of Group Homes Coordinator) residential group home staff.

     

    2.         Scheduling, monitoring, training, and supervising residential staff.

     

    3.         Monitoring the homes for cleanliness, maintenance needs, safety, and furnishings on a daily basis, and reporting necessary issues to the Group Homes Coordinator. 

     

    4.         Assisting residents with activities of daily living and performing psychiatric rehabilitation services, as described in each resident=s Individual Rehabilitation Plan and entering Contact Notes for each service.

     

    5.         Conducting weekly meetings with residents to discuss their concerns.

     

    6.         Attending bi- weekly staff meetings.

     

    7.         Ensuring all scheduled activities and individual resident appointments are completed.

     

    8.         Organizing and arranging recreational activities for residents.

     

    9.         Maintaining a petty cash fund, collecting receipts, and monitoring the proper usage of petty cash.

     

    10.       Collecting staff time sheets, reviewing them for accuracy, and forwarding time sheets to the Group Homes Coordinator.    

    11.       Monitoring the completion of all required documentation (i.e., contact notes, the daily log book, recreation log, visitation log, AA/NA attendance log, deployment sheets, service verification forms, etc.).

     

    12.       Ensuring that any scheduled urine screening samples are collected.

     

    13.       Purchasing or ordering supplies for residents, and staff, as needed.

     

    14.       Coordinating the completion of all fire drills.

     

    15.       Carrying a pager at all times, responding to pages from staff, instructing staff as to how to respond to the situation at hand, or contacting the other on-call staff member, as necessary, according to the protocol outlined in the Policy and Procedures Manual.

    LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL (FIS)

    Background:  GUIDE is seeking licensed mental health professionals (Full-Time and Half-Time) to serve as a juvenile justice Family Intervention Specialists (FIS).  FIS personnel serve as team members in the Intensive Aftercare Unit of the Department of Juvenile Services located in Largo, Maryland.  FIS workers provide psychosocial assessments and treatment planning; individual, group, and family counseling/therapy; crisis intervention; case consultation; and, information and referral. 

     Compensation, Benefits, & Supervision:  Salary and benefits are extremely competitive. Salaried employees receive paid vacation and sick leave, special circumstance leave, and holidays off; may be eligible to participate in the agency’s health insurance and retirement programs; and, may be eligible to be enrolled in 100% agency-sponsored disability (short-term and long-term)/life insurance programs.  Clinical supervision as part of the employment agreement that meets required State of Maryland licensing standards is provided if needed.

    Qualifications & Required Credentials:  FIS workers will possess a masters degree and have a minimum of two years of experience providing services to delinquent and/or delinquent-prone children who evidence disorders of conduct, opposition, and other mental health problems often associated with this population.  FIS personnel must be licensed mental health professionals in Maryland (i.e., LGSW, LCSW-C, LGPC or LCPC).  FIS workers should be skilled particularly in areas of family assessment, group and individual counseling, and case management, with a good understanding of community resources.  An understanding of particular issues associated with the abuse of alcohol and other drugs will be important. FIS workers will demonstrate both verbal and writing skills (bilingual English/Spanish skills a plus), and be able to function as flexible team members who can work in demanding situations often with a fair degree of pressure related to time, environment, and case challenges.  FIS workers will be open to a flexible schedule that may require some participation in evening, weekend, and holiday emergency on-call work.  FIS workers must be capable of working a flexible schedule that will require some hours outside of regular office hours.  Use of their automobile in the job is required, and FIS workers will need to possess a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and a safe driving record in order to be employed.  FIS workers will need to appreciate the value of aggressive outreach and community availability and will be required to provide services in client homes and other community settings, as well as in a regular office venue.

    Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist

    Rehabilitation Specialist
     

    Qualifications: The Rehabilitation Specialist shall have a Master’s degree in the human services field or a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of post-bachelor’s experience in the mental health field, which includes experience with medication monitoring, and client entitlements.  Supervision toward Licensure available. The Rehabilitation Specialist must possess excellent organization skills with an emphasis on attention to detail.  He/she should also have strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, and have an empathic and understanding attitude toward mentally ill clients.  He/she will possess a valid driver’s license with no more than two points. The Rehabilitation Specialist reports directly to the Rehabilitation Director.

     

    Duties: The Rehabilitation Specialist is responsible for the general areas of case coordination, resident entitlements, medication, health care, monthly progress notes, advocacy, and the development of community resources. 

     

             Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

     

    1.    Coordinating all aspects of residents’ care through communicating with mental health clinics, day programs, family members, somatic doctors and other providers. management. Participating in interagency meetings with other providers serving GUIDE consumers to coordinate services and address consumer issues

     

    2.    Monitoring residents’ progress and functioning through weekly meetings with each individual.

     

    3.     Assisting residents in applying for and maintaining all monetary and health insurance benefits to which they are entitled through Department of Social Services, Social Security Administration, and insurance companies.  Assisting residents with money management.

     

    4.     Crisis intervention.

     

    5.    Linking residents to needed community services, including day program or other daytime activity, and developing community resources for the benefit of the Program and individual residents. 

     

    6.     Setting up resident medical, dental, and psychiatric appointments, and maintaining a monthly appointments calendar.

     

    7.     Writing monthly progress notes. 

     

    8.     Ensuring availability of resident medications. Preparing monthly Daily Medication Records for all residents; and collecting medicine co-pays from residents.

    School-Based Mental Health Counselor

     

    The Linkages to Learning Program, sponsored by GUIDE Program, strives to be a model school based mental health program. We are seeking dedicated child psychotherapists who are passionate about clinical work, committed to maintaining a supportive work environment, and who possess the flexibility and creativity necessary to provide school mental health services. The following lists the duties of a School-Based Mental Health Counselor:

    • Completes psychosocial and diagnostic assessments of youth in elementary, middle, or high school setting (depending upon position).
    • Offers individual and family therapy to students and students’ families.
    • Provides consultation services to parents, teachers, school counselors, and school administrators.
    • Leads or co-leads psychoeducational groups.
    • Reviews school records to monitor student performance.
    • Attends and provides consultation at school meetings.
    • Offers crisis intervention services.
    • Makes presentations to school faculty on mental health issues and treatments.
    • May supervise interns from partnering universities.
    • May provide school wide screening for mental health issues using brief assessment instruments.
    • Documents provision of services according to GUIDE Program and COMAR requirements.
    • Completes all necessary paperwork and reports required for billing and  statistical purposes.
    • Attends all meetings required by GUIDE to insure quality services and professional development.

    Position Requirements

    • Graduation from a recognized program in clinical social work, mental health        counseling, clinical psychology, clinical art/music therapy, or psychiatric nursing that provided a solid grounding in mental health treatment.
    • Completion of a clinical internship with children or adolescents that grounded the   applicant in child-oriented treatment techniques, such as play therapy, art therapy, or child cognitive-behavioral therapy.
    • Possession of a Maryland license to practice psychotherapy at the time of interview.
    • References from past supervisors who can verify that the applicant is passionate about clinical work with children and works well with colleagues.
    • Prefer prior school based experience and applicants who are interested in supervising interns.
    • Highly appreciate bilingual applicants, especially those who can conduct treatment   in Spanish or other critical languages.

    School-Based Site Coordinator

     

    Job Duties

     

    ·        Community Outreach

    ·        Conducts needs assessments plans/coordinates outreach, prevention programming and other support services for families within school-community environment

    ·        According to results of needs assessments, coordinates psycho-educational, recreational and/or literacy programming in the form of classes, workshops or ongoing groups (on topics such as acculturation, parenting, English as a second language, computer skills, health education, and/or others)

    ·        Plans and implements special events such as clothing drives or summer family events

    ·        Conducts resource development in order to identify additional community partners or resources

    ·        Public speaking

    ·        Provides information/referral services

    Site Director-SHARP Suspension Program

     

    Summary Description: GUIDE Youth Services is seeking a Site Director for its SHARP Suspension Program. The successful candidate will report to the Director of the SHARP Program, and will be responsible for the implementation of the mission, goals and objectives of the SHARP program at their designated site. 

    Principal Responsibilities

    ·        Assumes all daily supervisory responsibilities for the site.

    ·        Recruits, trains, schedules and supervises volunteers.  Assesses on-going training needs of volunteers.  Site Director will interview and orient new volunteers, which includes conducting an orientation training session for volunteers. Assures that all required documents pertaining to volunteers are sent to the GUIDE Business Office and the Program Director.

    ·        Schedules volunteers for coverage or assigns Volunteer Coordinator to do so.

    ·        Conducts volunteer meetings 1x per month to assure for up-to-date programmatic information and support.  Volunteer meetings may also be utilized for training opportunities for the volunteers conducted by the Site Director, Program Director, or another professional facilitator.

    ·        Develops relationships and maintains frequent contact with administrators and other key staff from schools served by the site.  This may include providing presentations to school staff, PTSA and related community groups regarding the SHARP Program.

    ·        Provides written and oral feedback to school personnel regarding the student’s behavior while in the program.

    ·        Provides referrals for students and their families to school or community-based programs as needed or requested.  Provides follow-up on the referrals to assess follow through of students and families.

    ·        Maintains records of outreach, speaking engagements, donations, and incidents and submits them to the SHARP Program Director.

    ·        Meets with the site Board of Directors or site host representative as indicated.

    ·        Collects and maintains data and submits monthly reports to the Program Director.
